Computer programming is my area of expertise, astrophysics, quantum mechanics, phonology, some mechanical engineering. If you consider ethics to be a science, interspecies ethics. As a science officer abroad a starship, general knowledge of most disciplines is required.
The technology here is quite crude. Better than stone knives and bearskins, but only barely.
The people are fascinating, however. Especially since there are those who have come from other times and places. It is not so different from my universe, where aliens with vastly different cultures mingle.
Wow. I'd say tell me what you really think, but I have a feeling that is what you really think. [And it's actually a little refreshing to find someone so blunt.]
We don't have as much of that where I'm from, but this is the third section of the multiverse I've lived in, if that counts. A singularity breached space-time between my Earth and a parallel, almost identical Earth. Their fault.
Refreshing. Still 2016. Interestingly, our two parallel Earths seemed to evolve at the same rate but with some significant historical differences. But those two worlds colliding? The odds against it are astronomical. I haven't had time to study the reasons behind it yet.
The odds might have been astronomical, but it happened. You blame the other Earth for the event - was it an intentional breach or accidental? That will guide some of your analysis on it.
I only blame them for it because it was their fault. It was accidental, but it was a reasonable outcome considering what they were doing. Actually I'd appreciate an outside view, come by the lab and look at the math on it.

apologies for the lateness of this reply! ;;
I am familiar with alternate universes - multiverses as you call them, though I am only familiar with two such instances.
Did you cross between the space-time continuum and explore the other Earth? What year was it for you?
no worries at all! I didn't even have a laptop for a week
